Mark Thomson - Advice to Travellers

Australia, like the rest of the Universe, is more or less empty space and is only sparsely occupied by human beings. We travel across it in our vehicles, hurtling down long straight roads as we journey through sprawling landscapes for endless hours. The big sky, the infinite plains, the humming wheels, lull us into a dream state in which we are strangely prone to wonder. In this state of drifted mind, we may need useful advice.

This exhibition by Mark Thomson, with assistance from the Speculative Histories Laboratory, explores the possible significance of this phenomenon of modern existence.
