IN THE FACE OF CHANGE
With evidence of climate change compounding, aberrations occur, extinctions become apparent and uncertainty pervades the day. Politics does not appear to see our presence on earth as a collective force - capitalism is tangled in greed and vested self interest - religion is unable to change the rule book and art has the option of transitioning into activism . As we enter the virtual world, as robots enter the workforce, as drones assimilate into our lives as agents of surveillance, as personal assistants, as tools for progress … these works are evidence of change.

We must reconsider our place, impact and obligations within the complex weave of all living beings, together as one entity, just as Indigenous cultures have done, sustaining their life culture for millennia.
All beings are at the mercy of our current environmental and climatic destabilization - this lurching weather in all its awesome elemental power.
Humanity is both culprit and victim, our actions now are crucial.
Extreme weather events and the spread and mutation of covid viruses are forces beyond the scope of economies and the petty politics of governments and media, which often seem stymied and irrelevant.
I believe massive global transformation and deep adaptations are well underway and that humanity just like other living beings, can change, restore and heal.
These works are my perceptions of the language of my country.

Feeling my hands in the clay, dug from the earth, with a seed of an idea, my ceramic forms begin to take shape.
Their surfaces are inscribed in floral and leafy designs fashioned from nature, in celebration of our earth garden. Our very life source.
In the company of Stephen Killick and Jo Davidson, such tranquil meanderings are disturbed though, as all is not well in the garden.
