Jonathan Kim | Inner via Outer
Sue Michael | Winter
Margie Sheppard | Time and Space
13 August - 27 September
West Gallery Thebarton reopens for 2020 with three solo exhibitions and we’d love you to join us. Each artist has created new work that reflects time quietly spent re-evaluating priorities.
Jonathan Kim | Inner via Outer
Eastern and Western philosophies and artistic traditions come together in Korean-born Jonathan Kim’s work. In Inner via Outer, the Jonathan explores the relationship between internal and external structures through refined three-dimensional wall works and a series of small, minimalist paintings - a direct outcome of time spent in studio lockdown with limited access to found materials.
Sue Michael | Winter
Sue Michael continues her much loved observations of scenes of life in regional South Australia. Sue’s new works - charcoal gestural drawings, monoprints and small paintings - celebrate the sparseness, simplicity and no-nonsense practicality of what she describes as ‘normal winter activities’. Such ‘simpler’ ways and common social rituals become more meaningful during times of uncertainty and change.
Margie Sheppard | Time and Space
The works in Margie Sheppard’s exhibition were created during recent months of quiet meditation and isolation in the wide open spaces of a remote settlement on the west coast of South Australia. In these large abstract paintings, spherical forms are intersected by linear elements which form new shapes floating as delicate layers, evocative of sky and sea - constants in nature.
Opening times: 11am-5pm Thursday to Saturday & 1-5pm Sunday
