Margaret Ambridge - drawings
Mark Fitz-Gerald - photographs
When does the inconsequential become monumental, and when does the monumental become inconsequential?
Every day we pass by both and perhaps recognise neither, perhaps we don’t even see it.
Ambridge and Fitz-Gerald are looking at the ‘every day-ness’ of the world at our feet through very different eyes, extracting detailed, poetic, humorous and at times melancholy images of a landscape most people barely notice.
Fitz-Gerald’s photographs are a modern archaeology of humankind’s scratching in concrete, whilst
Ambridge’s drawings are tender organic reflections on the lives of small creatures.
Together they hope to slow us down just a little to allow time for a different kind of appreciation of the spaces we occupy.
